Mirror Glazing Options
Plate Glass Mirror
This Industry Standard is regular 1/4”(6mm) glass with a back surface coating of silver, which produces images by reflection. This produces the best reflective quality.
Category II Tape Backed Mirror
Standard 1/4” plate glass mirror backed with category II tape. When a mirror is backed with cat II tape, it serves the same purpose as a tempered mirror.
Laminated Mirror
Made of two pieces of glass (one with a mirror coating) and a vinyl layer in between, This glass is held together when shattered.
Tempered Mirror
This safety option changes the structure of the glass so that it breaks into smaller pieces instead of potentially larger jagged pieces that are typical with plate glass breakage. It will have some distortion due to its production process.
Acrylic Mirror
A plastic mirror that is lighter and more difficult to break than a plate glass mirror. It is more susceptible to scratching. Cleaning should only be done with a very soft cloth and water.
Polycarbonate Mirror
A plastic mirror that is made to be softer than an acrylic mirror so that it gives. This mirror is extremely lightweight and offers superior optical clarity. It is virtually unbreakable.
Aluminum Mirror
A mirror with a 100% recycled solid core, making it a green product. This mirror has an aluminum reflective outer surface on the front and an aluminum matte finish on the back. It is virtually unbreakable.
Stainless Steel Mirror
Our stainless steel is buffed to create a highly reflective finish that mimics a mirror. This #8 stainless steel mirror is unbreakable.
Meeks Products have a 1-year limited warranty covering defects in workmanship and material under normal use from the date of purchase.
Meek mirror glass is warranted for 15 years against spoilage. Specialty mirrors (such as laminated) are warranted for 5 years against spoilage.
Tempered Mirror does not have the same optic quality as ¼” float mirror and there may be distortion, irregularities, and haziness. This is due to the high temperatures required to temper the glass. For this reason, Meek does not extend a warranty on the surface quality of the tempered mirror. Tempered mirror has a 2-year warranty against mirror spoilage and a 1-year warranty against defects in workmanship.
Meek toilet paper dispensers, soap dispensers, and hand towel dispensers are guaranteed for one year against defects in workmanship and material under normal operating conditions.
Meek purchases specialty items that may have a different warranty.
For example, certain electric hand dryers have a lifetime warranty. Please contact Meek Customer Service for specifics on those products.
Warranty does not cover improper cleaning of the mirror.
Wood frames should be cleaned in the same matter as wood furniture.
Damage from the use of corrosive cleaners containing ammonia, bleach, etc is not covered in the warranty and voids the spoilage warranty. Rust and discoloration to stainless steel parts resulting from exposure to harsh environmental and/or chemicalconditions are not considered to be defects in workmanship or material and there is no express or implied warranty for such conditions.
Meek Warranty does not cover product failures due to improper mounting of any products purchased from or manufactured by Meek.
It is the responsibility of the general contractor, installer/owner to ensure that all products are mounted with appropriate fasteners to structurally sound walls, etc to meet and exceed all local, state and federal codes and that they are mounted in the position to meet ADA and other building codes for the appropriate regulatory authority.
Warranty claims may be submitted by calling Meek Mirrors and may require a photo and the possible return of the defective item.
Purchaser is responsible for paying return freight in some cases. In all cases, the purchaser’s only remedy against Meek is for the replacement or repair, at Meeks’ option.
Meek warranties do not cover damage due to theft or vandalism. Meek is not responsible for damages for field labor or installation, lost profits, lost sales, injury to persons or property, or for any other loss.
Cleaning Instructions for Meek Mirrors
- The best and safest cleaner for a mirror is clean, warm water used with a soft, lint-free cloth. Be careful not to allow the edges of the mirror to become or remain wet over a period of time.
- Never spray any cleaner directly onto a mirror. Instead apply the cleaner
to a soft cloth and then wipe the mirror. This will also prevent “puddling” at the mirror edge where the cleaner could attack the backing. - If that does not work, use commercial cleaner that does not contain ammonia, vinegar, acid or alkali cleaner. All of these can attack the front surface edges and baking of the mirror resulting in black edge.
- Do not use acid or alkali cleaners for mirror cleanup after installation.
They can attack both, the surface and edges as well as the backing of the mirror. And never use abrasive cleaner on any mirror surface. - Remove surface marks or stubborn dirt with 0000 oil-free steel wool, not solvents. Solvents attack and damage the edges and backing.
- Always use soft, grit-free cloths when cleaning a mirror to reduce chances of scratching the surface.
- Be sure to dry all joints and edges thoroughly to be certain that no commercial cleaner comes in contact with the edge and backing.
Be sure to let your customers know that routine cleaning maintenance can be accomplished simply and effectively by washing, rinsing and drying the mirror.
Note that Meek’s mirror warranty is voided when using cleaners containing ammonia, vinegar, acid or alkali. The use of these cleaners is evident by the black edge of a mirror.
